3 England internationals who could still be on the move this summer

While there might only be a couple of weeks until the transfer window slams shut, it appears there is still plenty more business that is set to be completed.

In what has been a blockbuster summer from across Europe, the Premier League has once again seen a huge amount of money change hands over the past few months.

With the likes of Raheem Sterling, Nick Pope and Kalvin Phillips all completing permanent switches, Gareth Southgate’s England stars have been a focal point of this summer’s market.

Although it might appear that West Ham’s Declan Rice will be staying put in east London, there are a host of England internationals who have been linked with a potential move.

So, we have taken a look at a handful of Three Lions stars who could be arriving at a new club before the September 1st deadline.

    Conor Gallagher – Chelsea

Although Thomas Tuchel might have made it clear this summer that he wants Conor Gallagher to stay put at Stamford Bridge and fight for his place, the 22-year-old is a starlet in demand.

With Chelsea only continually linked with a move for Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, there have been plenty of questions regarding how much first-team action Gallagher will be handed this season.

Enjoying what was a breakout spell during his one-year loan switch to Crystal Palace last season, Chelsea’s homegrown talent bagged eight Premier League strikes on route to receiving a senior England call-up.

Awarded four international caps by Southgate earlier in the year, Gallagher will be desperate to earn a spot in England’s World Cup adventure that gets underway in November.

Although Tuchel and Chelsea might try their best to keep the 22-year-old in west London this summer, Sky Sports have suggested that Newcastle are weighing up a £40million swoop before Deadline Day.

    Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa

Having to settle for a spot on the bench as Aston Villa opened the 2022/23 campaign with a 2-0 loss away at Bournemouth on August 6th, Ollie Watkins has once again been linked with a move away from the Midlands.

Despite being recalled by Steven Gerrard for last weekend’s 2-1 victory against Everton, the one-time Brentford striker has struggled to cement his spot as Villa’s leading number nine.

Bagging 11 strikes in his 35 Premier League appearances last season, it has been suggested that Gerrard would be willing to part ways with the 26-year-old if they receive a suitable offer.

Making his England debut last year and since going on to earn six international caps with the Three Lions, it has been reported this summer that Leeds and Everton are both keen on striking a potential deal.

Arriving at Villa Park from Brentford just two years ago, it is believed that Villa have set a £40million price tag on the six-cap international.

    Kyle Walker-Peters – Southampton

Bagging a late equaliser against Leeds last weekend as Southampton played out a 2-2 draw at St. Mary’s, Kyle Walker-Peters has continued to gain a string of plaudits from across the Premier League.

While the Saints might have been disappointed to have had to settle for a 15th-place finish last season, the one-time Tottenham starlet was one of Ralph Hasenhüttl’s major positives.

Making his move to the south coast a permanent one last summer, the 25-year-old was rewarded with his first call-up to Southgate’s England squad back in March.

However, while Southampton might have insisted that Walker-Peters is not for sale this summer, The Athletic reported last month that some of England’s elite are keeping a close eye on proceedings.

With it suggested that Hasenhüttl’s side would only entertain offers in the region of £40million for the two-cap international full-back, the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal have all enquired about the ex-Spurs man.
