After being named the Laurels sports man of the year in a ceremony held on Wednesday, to May, 2023, Lionel Messi expressed his view on the long standing debate between himself and Portugal Star, Christiano Ronaldo.
Many believe that Ronaldo should have the title of the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT), but Messi’s fans think otherwise. When asked about the debate, he replied that he gives no importance to such debates and that he does not play football for awards.
Messi has previously won Laurels sportsman of the year in 2020, making it his second time in winning the award. Tiger Woods won the inaugural award.
Messi has won FIFA Player of the year seven times whiles Ronaldo has won the award on five occasions with his last win coming in 2017.
The 2022 world winner has resumed training with PSG after his two weeks suspension due to unauthorized travel to Saudi.
