Simona Halep appeals against her four-year doping ban from tennis at the Court of Arbitration for Sport | Tennis News

Former world No. 1 Simona Halep has lodged an appeal against her four-year doping suspension from tennis. The Romanian tennis star, who was banned by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) for “intentional” doping violations, has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

In her appeal, Halep seeks to overturn the decision and reduce her sanction. The ban was imposed after Halep tested positive for the prohibited substance roxadustat in August 2022, leading to her provisional suspension in October of the same year. The CAS proceedings are underway, and the final decision will be binding, subject to the parties’ right to appeal to the Swiss Federal Tribunal within 30 days on limited grounds.
