Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities have been attacked by armed robbers on their way back to Accra after a match-week eight defeat to FC Samartex.
The Royals made a long trip to Samreboi for the Premier League game which they lost 3-0 to FC Samartex courtesy goals from Emmanuel Mamah, Emmanuel Keyekeh and Michael Ephson.
The team bus of Legon Cities was ambushed by gun-wielding robbers at Kwanfifi, a town on the Bibiani to Kumasi highway.
A player of Legon Cities, Nicholas Mensah confirmed the news to Kickgh.com
“We have been attacked by armed robbers. No casualties but they took everything from us. It was a terrible” Mensah told Kickgh.com
Several clubs in the Ghana Premier League such as Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold (now defunct) and Women’s Premier League sides Perpia Ladies and Savannah Ladies have been attacked by armed robbers in similar situation.
